1.0 Overview

This outing is a fall ascent of Camel's Hump Mountain. At 4,083, Camels Hump is the third highest mountain in Vermont. Its open summit and steep approaches will provides some significant challenges, and will make a good challenge for experienced scouts.

2.0 Concept

2.1 Description

We will approach the Mountain via the Forest City Trail and the Long Trail. This route is about 4 miles long. After taking a break on the summit we will descend on the Burrows trail which is 2.4 miles long. There may be some technical terrain nearr the summit.

2.2 Schedule of Events

Saturday 8Oct05
0800 -- Meet at the Community Center.
1700 -- Return to Community Center.

2.3 Expected Conditions and Difficulty

Camels Hump is a four-thousand footer with all that entails. Be prepared for steep trails, rock scrambling, and severe weather including high winds and driving rain.

2.4 Special Requirements

Open to all scouts, scouters, and parents who feel prepared for the conditions.
