1.0 OverviewEach year on the Fourth of July, the Hanover Recreation Department sponsors a town Independence Day celebration which includes a parade through town and festivities on the Green. Troop 45 provides a color guard for the parade, presents the colors at the opening ceremony, and leads the gathering in the Pledge of Allegiance. This event counts as a community flag ceremony for Second Class.2.0 Concept2.1 DescriptionThe parade forms up on Hovey Lane between St Denis Church and the High School. The route proceeds up Lebanon Street to Main Street and thence to the Green. In company with the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, we provide (at least) a four-man color guard to carry the American and Troop flags in the parade. At the reviewing stand, a representative of the Hanover Recreation Department will organize the opening ceremony. We will present the colors and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Procedures vary a little from year to year so we must be prepared to be flexible and accommodating.Parade participants assemble at Hovey Lane starting at 0915 on Wenesday, 4 July, to prepare for a step-off at 1000. Please don't be late! We have some significant drilling and preparation to do before step-off. Once the ceremony is over, the outing officially ends.
