1.0 Overview We will be launching from Orford and canoeing to Hanover with two nights of camping. This is a simple introduction to a canoe trip. Everyone in the troop is encouraged to come. It is also a shake down for the week long trip in July.
2.0 Concept2.1 DescriptionWe will meet at the Community center Saturday Morning and check our equipment. We will then drive to Orford and launch from the boat ramp. We will camp the first night at Roaring Brook and the second night at Patchen Point. We finish at the Ledyard Canoe Club in Hanover. We will be cooking as a group.2.2 Schedule of EventsSaturday 27 Jun1000 -- Community Center - Check Equipment 1030 -- Head North to Orford 1100 -- Arrive at Orford Boat Launch, unload and launch. 1130 -- Canoe Skills 1300 -- Lunch 1600 -- Roaring Brook 1800 -- Supper 2100 -- Lights Out

Monday 29 Jun 2.3 Expected Conditions and DifficultyThis is a easy paddle. We are covering about 20 miles. The river has very little current, so we are not much assisted by that.2.4 Special RequirementsOpen to all Boy Scouts, Scouters, and parents. All participants must have passed the BSA Swimmer Test.3.0 Administration and Logistics3.1 Announcement Date: 6 May 093.2 Roster Closing Date: 24 May 093.3 Costs$30 for food. The $30 fee is due at the Wednesday June 24 Troop Meeting. Please bring cash so Billy can spend it right away.3.4 EquipmentThis is a 100% uniformed outing! Class A uniform is required for travel and for flags; class B otherwise.
