Computer Swap Meet and Recycling Collection

1.0 Overview

The Troop has been asked to provide assistance with the the computer swap meet and computer recycling collection being sponsored by ValleyNet.

2.0 Concept

2.1 Description

Every year, ValleyNet, a local nonprofit Internet Service Provider sponsors a computer swap meet during which people can buy and sell used computers. The purpose of the ValleyNet Swap Meet is to get good used computers and computer equipment out of basements and into the hands of people who can use it to connect to the Internet. This year ValleyNet will also be accepting outdated and broken computers and printers for safe recycling.

Scouts are needed to help with setup and cleanup before and after the swap meet, and with loading and unloading of computers as they are bought, sold or recycled.

2.2 Schedule of Events

At 9:00 AM on Saturday, Mar 16th, those interested in helping should meet at the Montshire Museum (ValleyNet offices are there) in Norwich. The swap meet will end at 2:00 PM and cleanup should be finished by 3:00 PM.

2.3 Expected Conditions and Difficulty

Some lifting and hauling of computers and monitors will be required.
