The Troop has been asked to provide assistance with the installation of American Flags in the classrooms at the Hanover High School and the Richmond Middle School. We have also been invited to participate in the ceremony during which the flags are formally presented to the schools.
This event is sponsored by a group called Americans for Victory. Americans for Victory is a non-partisan, citizens group based in Hanover, whose purpose is to nurture freedom, responsibility, and patriotism in our community by promoting institutions, curricula and observances that honor democratic process, patriotic duty and individual responsibility.
The group has recognized that most of the classrooms in the middle school and the high school are not equipped with American Flags and has undertaken a campaign to raise money to purchase flags and to seek help with the installation of the flags. The flags will be installed on Feb 9th and there will be a formal presentation on Feb 16th. The presentation will include speeches by a number of our elected representatives and candidates from both major political parties.
At 10:00 AM on Saturday, Feb 9th, those interested in helping to install flag holders in classrooms should meet at the flag pole in front of the high school.
At 11:00 AM on Saturday, Feb 16th, those interested in attending the presentation ceremony should meet at the high school auditorium.
The installation will involve some drill and screwdriver work; nothing real difficult.
