Events Log

The group met in Lyme at 0700 on Sunday morning and departed for the trailhead at about 0720. We arrived at the Ravine Lodge at about 0815 and were on the trail by 0830. We ascended via the Gorge Brook Trail, reaching the summit at about 1200. We had lunch while hunkered down among the rocks on the summit and Markus, Netta and Tamar had the distinction of being the first Scouts in the Troop to have Scoutmaster Conferences at the summit of Moosilauke! We departed the summit at about 1245 and hiked over to the south peak and from there descended via the Carriage Road trail, returning to the cars right on schedule at about 1545. We departed promptly and were back in Lyme at about 1645 and in Hanover shortly after 1700.

The weather was the best anyone could ask for. Temperatures were right around 30 degrees and the summit winds were light. We hiked on packed snow for the trail for the whole trip.

Analysis and Lessons Learned

The total distance covered was about 7 miles miles. No significant problems were encountered.

This was a great hike and should be repeated occasionally.
