Mr. Collins: (Welcoming remarks)

SPL: "Thank you Mr. Collins. At the beginning of our meetings we usually have announcements and tonight we have several.

"We have a service opportunity coming up. Brendan will tell us about that." Saturday Apr 26th, 9:30 - 2:00. Valley Net Computer Swap Meet and Recycling Collection

"We have a weekend camping trip coming up. Axel will tell us about that." May 2nd, 3rd and 4th, Sunapee District Spring Camporee, theme will be Indian Lore and primative cooking.

"I would like to make one more announcement. Two weeks from tonight, Wednesday March 23rd, our meeting will include an open house for prospective new Scouts. If either parents or Scouts know any young men in 5th grade or above, who are interested in joining the Troop, please invite them to attend that meeting."

"Now Mr. Hoge would like to make an announcement about Camp Bell." Sunday July 27 through Saturday 2 August. Parent coordinator needed.

"Are there any more announcements?" Watch for any. "If there are no further announcements, we'll proceed to the next part of the program."

SPL: "As scouts we are often called upon to present ourselves in good cheer and with bravado to spare, even in disgruntling situations. Simply put we are doing our best to be men of action. Men of action laugh in the face of danger, or at least manageable risk, and fearlessly engage in acts of controlled lunacy, with proper supervision of course. With such a wind at our backs it is hard to imagine any task to be daunting, but nay my friends there is an evil that mercilessly plagues our scouting spirit during the winter months. Science names this foe “wiglius frigidus,” you may know it simply as cold toes."

"During the planning phase of any winter expedition a foreboding thought pierces the robust determination of both scouts and scoutmaster’s alike. “Will my toes be warm?” With unrelenting vigor we attacked this question in search of toe friendly environments that still presented scout-worthy challenges with associated bragging rights. I’m proud to say that the exceptionally cold winter brought about an equally exceptional level of comfort with our expeditions."

"At this time we will have several outing reports to tell you about some of those activities."

"First Axel Hansen will describe our trip to Wachipauka Pond.

Wachipauka Pond presentation.

SPL, ASPL and Scoutmaster stand and move to the far right side (audience left) of the stage.

SPL: "Will the Troop Guide please present Scout Paul Thompson." Escort Scout move Webelos to center stage and stands with him, facing the audience.

Scoutmaster: The Arrow of Light Award, which has just been given to Scout Paul Thompson represents the end of his Cub Scout journey. He has worked through the ranks of Cub Scouts, earning the rank badges as he progressed. As the trail grew steeper and more challenging, he earned activity badges and the Webelos rank. Tonight, he has reached the summit by completing the requirements for the Arrow of Light. The seven rays of the Arrow of Light represent wisdom, courage, self-control, justice, faith, hope, and love. The Arrow of Light is important. It's the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform. But, more important than the badge itself is what Paul has learned, the work he has done to help others and the fun he has had earning it.

Paul, you have contributed much to your Cub Scout Den and Pack but it is time now for you to leave the Pack and enter Troop 45. There, we are sure, you will continue to grow in Scouting skills and friendships. Now, go forward into the adventure of Boy Scouts. Your parents will follow you.

SPL: "Troop 45 calls Webelos Scout Paul Thompson.

Escort takes Webelos Scout across the stage where he is met by the SPL and ASPL who shake hands, remove blue epaulettes, put on red epaulettes and issue Troop neckerchief. Scoutmaster greets parents and greets new Scout after epaulettes are installed.

At the conclusion of the welcoming, the Scoutmaster announces: "Ladies and gentlemen it gives me great honor to present to you the newest member of Troop 45 Scout Paul Thompson."
